Hawkeyes Improve in Second Round

WEST LAFAYETTE, IN – – The Iowa women’s golf team moved up three places in the team standings during the second round of play at the Big Ten Championships. The Hawkeyes are currently in seventh place with 644 after 36 holes. Purdue, host of the tournament, is leading the 11-team field with 609.

Tyrette Metzendorf is tied for third place individually. Metzendorf is just nine over par (153) at the completion of the second round. Becky Quinby is tied for 21st with 160 (+16), while sophomores Laura Cilek and Lauren Forbes rounded out Iowa’s scorecard with 165 (+21), 167 (+23), respectively.

Freshman Chelsea Harris and junior Alison Cavanaugh are also competing for the Hawkeyes. Harris (+26) carded 170, and Cavanaugh (+32) shot 176 today.

The women’s golf team will return to the Kampen Course tomorrow for the third round of the Big Ten Tournament. Tee times begin at 9 .am. Live stats for the remaining two rounds can be found on hawkeyesports.com or Golfstat.com.
