IOWA CITY, IA – The University of Iowa volleyball team fell to Indiana tonight in straight sets at Carver-Hawkeye Arena (25-19, 25-13, 25-20). Junior Becky Walters led the Iowa offense with 10 kills while junior Mara Hilgenberg dished 23 assists.

In her final Hawkeye appearance, senior Christina Meister picked up a team-high 12 digs to become just the fourth Hawkeye to average over four digs per set throughout an entire season since 1990. Fellow senior Megan Schipper picked up nine digs and seven kills against the Hoosiers (6-14, 17-17). The Hawkeye captain wrapped her illustrious career with 22 kills over the weekend, jumping into 11th place all-time.

“I thought our seniors played really well and tonight was about them,” said Head Coach Sharon Dingman. “That’s what we talked about leading up to this weekend. We didn’t play as well as we could have as a unit in this particular match, but we had a great year. I saw a lot of really good things from this team. Obviously, tonight we wanted a different result, not just for ourselves and for the program, but certainly for Christina and Schip.”

The Hawkeyes (5-15, 13-19) concluded the regular season with a five Big Ten wins. Since Dingman took control of the program last season, Iowa has combined for 11 conference victories, marking the highest two-year win total since the Hawkeyes won a combined 14 Big Ten games from 2000-01.
