Hawkeyes Out West for National Championships

IRVINE, CA – Seven members of the University of Iowa swimming and diving team are set to compete this week at the 2010 ConocoPhillips National Championships. The competition will be held Aug. 3-7 at the William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center in Irvine, Calif. The event will also serve as trials for numerous events, including the 2010 Mutual of Omaha Pan Pacific Championships, the 2010 Short Course World Championships and the 2011 World University Games.

Hawkeye competitors include senior Max Dittmer, junior Paul Gordon, sophomore Jordan Huff, senior Zane Hugo, junior Duncan Partridge, junior Ryan Phelan, and sophomore Donny Warren. The five-day competition will begin with preliminary heats each morning at 11 a.m. (CT) and conclude with event finals each evening at 8 p.m. (CT).

The swim meet will be covered extensively by Swimnetwork.com, with exclusive interviews, blogs, prediction articles, swimming race coverage and behind-the-scenes commentary. NBC Sports will cover the action Aug. 7 from 5-7 p.m. (CT) and Aug. 8 from 5:30-7 p.m. (CT).

Results will be available at usaswimming.org/nationals after each evening’s finals.
