Meet the Hawkeyes: Chante' Thompson

IOWA CITY, IA – With volleyball training camp underway, hawkeyesports.com is taking a look at the 2010 Hawkeye newcomers. Today’s freshman spotlight is Chantè Thompson, a middle blocker from Hurst, TX.

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself?
“I am obsessed with Kobe Bryant and the Lakers.”

Why did you choose the University of Iowa and Iowa volleyball?
“The fans, the town, and the team were so welcoming it felt like a second home to me.”

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
“Somewhere in Africa to help the countries in need.”

Favorite thing about the Iowa volleyball team?
“How much the team cares, and the relationships the girls have with each other.”

What super power would you most like to have? Why?
“Teleport, so I could travel anywhere at any time!”

If you could play another sport in college what would it be and why?
“Ping Pong, it seems like a very intense sport.”

Most played song (& by whom) on your iPod?
“Pump up the volume: The Cool Kids.”

What is the best characteristic about you?
“I enjoy being expressive, people usually know what is on my mind.”

What is something you can’t live without? Why?
“My family, the support and advice I receive from them is incredible. I would not trade it for anything in the world.”

Future plans after graduating from the University of Iowa?
“Still working on that.”
