IOWA CITY, Iowa – – The University of Iowa women’s golf team shot a 340 (+52) in windy conditions Sunday during the final round of the Lady Buckeye Invitational. Iowa ended the 54-hole tournament, hosted by Ohio State on the par 72, 6,228-yard Scarlet Course at The Ohio State University Golf Club, in 11th place with a 997 (326-331-340, +133). Michigan State (303-300-315=918, +54) finished atop the 12-team leaderboard, followed by Kent State (312-309-314=935, +71) and Wisconsin (304-322-313=939, +75).
Senior Laura Cilek and freshman Woojay Choi led the Hawkeyes during the third round, as they both posted 83’s (+11). Other third round scores included an 86 (+14) from junior Chelsea Harris, an 88 (+16) from sophomore Kristi Cardwell and a 99 (+27) from senior Lauren Forbes. The Hawkeye scorecard consisted of the top four scores.
Cardwell finished the tournament tied for 48th, a team-best, after ending with a 247 (82-77-88, +31). Harris finished one-stroke behind Cardwell with a 248 (79-83-86, +32) to finish in a 52nd place tie.
The Hawkeyes return to action April 22-24 at the Big Ten Championships.
