IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa men’s tennis team has received the ITA All-Academic Team Award for the 2010-11 academic year. To qualify, a team must compile a grade point average of 3.20 or above. Iowa is one of six Big Ten teams to earn the recognition.

In addition to the team award, three Hawkeyes earned ITA Scholar-Athlete honors. They include junior Mitch Beckert, sophomore Garret Dunn and freshman Chase Tomlins. To qualify, student-athletes must have a minimum 3.5 grade point average.

“I am very proud of the academic achievements of our team and, of course, Mitch, Garret and Chase,” said head coach Steve Houghton. “We have always taken great pride in our academic success and these honors are indicative of our student-athletes’ hard work.”
