13 Hawkeyes Head to Olympic Trials

IOWA CITY, Iowa — Thirteen University of Iowa swimmers will compete at the 2012 U.S Olympic Team Trials on June 25 through July 2 at the CenturyLink Center in Omaha, Neb.

Below is a complete list of Hawkeye Olympic Trial qualifiers:

Iowa Men’s Competitors
Grant Betulius — 100 back
Byron Butler — 100 fly, 100 back
Brian Donatelli — 50 free
Paul Gordon — 100 free, 200 free, 100 fly
Jordan Huff — 100 free, 200 free
Tyler Lentz — 200 IM, 400 IM
Andrew Marciniak — 100 breast, 200 breast
Ryan Phelan — 50 free
Dustin Rhoads — 100 back
Korey Schneider — 100 breast
Gianni Sesto — 50 free
Mike Vinyard — 400 IM

Iowa Women’s Competitors
Emily Hovren — 200 IM
Daniela Cubelic — 100 back

Two additional Hawkeyes — Manuel Belzer and Duncan Partridge — are international qualifiers. Belzer will compete at the German Trials, while Partridge will swim at the Canadian Trials.

One current and one future Iowa swimmer have already punched their tickets to London for the 2012 Olympics. Sophomore Heather Arseth will compete for the country of Mauritius in the 50 and 100 free, while incoming freshman Roman Trussov will swim in the 100 and 200 breast for his native Kazakhstan.
