THE SETTING
Iowa (12-5, 1-3) returns home to host first-place Wisconsin (13-4, 4-0) Saturday night. Tip-off is set for 7:06 p.m. (CT) on Mediacom Court at Carver-Hawkeye Arena (15,400). Tickets are $27 for adults, and $15 for youth and UI students. Saturday’s game will be Chris Street Memorial Day and Lettermen’s Day.

ON THE AIR
Radio: All Iowa games are broadcast on the Hawkeye Radio Network. Gary Dolphin handles the play-by-play, along with color commentator Bob Hansen. The network includes more than 40 stations that blanket the state of Iowa and include portions of Illinois, Nebraska, Minnesota, Missouri and Wisconsin. The Hawkeye Radio Network coverage includes a 60-minute pregame show. Fans can also listen to the broadcast on satellite radio: XM Radio (195).
Television: Saturday night’s game will be televised on BTN (BTN2GO). Brian Anderson and Jim Jackson will call the action.

GAME #18 QUICK HITS
? Saturday marks the 20-year anniversary of the death of former Hawkeye Chris Street. Street was killed in an auto accident in Iowa City on Jan. 19, 1993, 15 games into his junior season. Street’s memory will be recognized at halftime of Saturday night’s game.
? After missing the Michigan State game (Jan. 10) with a sprained ankle, leading scorer Roy Devyn Marble (15.0 ppg) returned to action at Northwestern (Jan. 13) scoring eight points and dishing out a game-high five assists in 30 minutes of action in a 70-50 win against the Wildcats.
? Aaron White leads the team in rebounding (6.1), free throws made (75) and attempted (102), and ranks second in scoring (13.3).
? The combined Big Ten record of Iowa’s first three home opponents is 10-2.
? Iowa is 16-2 when scoring 80 points or more, the last three seasons. The Hawkeyes are 22-0 when holding opponents to fewer than 60 points, the last three years.
? Iowa’s underclassmen accounts for 57 percent of Iowa’s scoring. The three rookie starters account for 26 percent of the team’s scoring and 46 percent of its assists.

HAWKEYES SNAP LOSING STREAK WITH WIN AT NORTHWESTERN
? Iowa closed the first half on a 14-4 run en route to a 70-50 victory at Northwestern last Sunday. The win snapped a five-game losing skid to the Wildcats and was the Hawkeyes’ first victory in Evanston since a 67-62 triumph in 2008.
? Junior Josh Oglesby scored 12 of his season-high 14 points in the second half, draining a season-best four triples in the second stanza.
? Junior Melsahn Basabe scored in double digits for the second straight game, netting 11 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the field and 1-1 from the charity stripe.
? Northwestern’s 15 first half points were the second fewest by an Iowa opponent this season; Iowa held Coppin State to 14 first-half points.
? Iowa’s reserves outscored its starters (40-30). The 40 bench points are the second-highest total (44 vs. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi). Iowa’s reserves average 26.3 per game.
? Sophomore Aaron White scored a game-high 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the field and 3-4 from the foul line. White has led the Hawkeyes in scoring a team-best nine times this season.
? Adam Woodbury tied a career high with nine rebounds in only 12 minutes of action.
? The Hawkeyes were credited with 22 assists on their 29 field goals (76 percent).
? Iowa registered seven dunks in the win. In fact, the Hawkeyes had four dunks in the first half, compared to Northwestern’s five total field goals. Aaron White had four of Iowa’s seven slams.

CHRIS STREET
Chris Street was killed in an auto accident in Iowa City on Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1993, at approximately 7 p.m., 15 games into his junior season. His number (40) is retired. He was voted MVP of 1992 San Juan Shootout and all tournament at 1992 Amana Hawkeye Classic. Street made 34 straight free throws over his last six games, breaking Iowa record of 33 straight set by Ben McGilmer over eight-game period in 1969. He led team the team in rebounding (9.5) and was third in scoring (14.5) as a junior. Street was an honorable mention all-league honoree as a sophomore. In honor of Street, The Chris Street Award, was started in 1993 and is presented annually to “A Hawkeye player who best exemplifies the spirit, enthusiasm and intensity of Chris Street.” Wisconsin assistant coach Gary Close, was an assistant on the Hawkeye staff when Street was killed.

ALL-TIME SERIES
Iowa leads the all-time series with Wisconsin by the narrowest of margins, 78-77. After losing 13-of-15 games to the Badgers, the Hawkeyes swept Wisconsin last season. It marked the first sweep of the Badgers since the 1994-95 campaign (96-84 in Iowa City; 84-77 in Madison). The two teams have split the last six meetings, but Wisconsin has won 13 of the last 17. The last three meetings have been decided by a combined 11 points. Iowa holds a 49-26 advantage in games played in Iowa City, but the Badgers have won eight of the last 12 in Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Two of the last four meetings in Iowa City (2009 and 2011) have gone to extra time, with each team winning one. Iowa and Wisconsin have met three times at the Big Ten Tournament, with the Badgers winning twice. Wisconsin won in Chicago in 1999 and 2005 and Iowa won in Indianapolis in 2002.

SCOUTING WISCONSIN
? Wisconsin beat No. 2 Indiana (64-59) Tuesday. The Badgers are 3-3 in games away from Madison, including 2-2 in true road games. Saturday will be Wisconsin’s third of four contests on the road.
? Wisconsin beat a top-two team for sixth time in program history, its first away from home Tuesday at Indiana.
? Four Badgers scored in double figures at Indiana, led by Ryan Evans’ 13 points.
? Jared Berggren leads the team in scoring (12.9), while Ryan Evans ranks second (11.5) and Ben Brust is third (10.9). Evans also ranks first in team rebounding (7.8).
? Wisconsin ranks first in the country in fewest turnovers (8.9); fourth in assist/turnover ratio (1.6); sixth in scoring defense (54.9); seventh in fewest fouls (13.7); and 18th in scoring margin (15.5) and turnover margin (4.2).
? Sam Decker is the reigning Big Ten Freshman of the Week after scoring 13 points on 55.6 percent shooting in a win over No. 12 Illinois. He ranks fourth on the team with 9.4 points and is also averaging 3.5 rebounds per contest.
? Both head coaches, Bo Ryan and Fran McCaffery, were raised in the Philadelphia area. McCaffery is a Philadelphia native, who attended La Salle High School, while Ryan was raised in Chester, Pa., and attended Chester High School.
? Wisconsin freshman Traevon Jackson is the son of BTN color analyst Jim Jackson.
? Wisconsin Assistant Coach Gary Close was an assistant coach at Iowa for 13 seasons (1987-99) under Tom Davis. He later was the head boys basketball coach at Regina High School in Iowa City for three years, leading his team to the state tournament his last two years.

HAWKEYE FASTBREAKS
? Iowa is in the middle of a stretch of playing 5-of-7 games away from Iowa City.
? Iowa has won 14 of its last 17 home games, including nine of 11 this season, dating back to Feb. 1, 2012. The Hawkeyes have dropped their last two, both to nationally ranked teams.
? Iowa has Sunday road games four of the first five weekends of conference play.
? Iowa has made 39-of-110 (.354) 3-pointers in six games away from home, while the Hawkeyes are 57-of-205 (.283) from long range in 11 home contests.
? Iowa ranks 18th in the country in free throw makes (16.9) and 24th in attempts (23.9).
? After going 2-of-22 (.091) from 3-point territory a span of five games, Josh Oglesby has made four of his last six 3-point attempts. Before Iowa’s last game at Northwestern, the sophomore was 2-of-19 from long distance. Oglesby missed his first three attempts from beyond the arc against the Wildcats, but finished strong making four of his last six. Twenty-three of his 29 field goals are via 3-pointers.
? The Hawkeyes have played 10 players or more in 16 of their 17 games. The only contest in which it did not play 10 players was Iowa State (nine players). Iowa has nine players who average 17 minutes or more of action.
? Freshman Adam Woodbury averaged a team-best seven rebounds the last six games. He has grabbed seven or more boards five times, including four of the last six games. Woodbury equaled a personal best with nine at Northwestern.
? Iowa has made (287) nearly more free throws than its opponents have attempted (290).
? The Hawkeyes have four players who have made 15 or more triples: Marble (23), Oglesby (23), Gesell (17), and McCabe (15).
? Iowa has had an attendance figure of 10,500 fans or greater in all 11 home contests, including a sellout of 15,400 against Indiana on Dec. 31.
? Iowa’s 12 triples vs. UNI are the second most by a Fran McCaffery-coached Iowa team. Roy Devyn Marble’s 30 points and 14 free throws made rank third and first, respectively, the last three seasons under Fran McCaffery.
? Iowa started three freshmen in its last 10 outings: Anthony Clemmons, Mike Gesell and Adam Woodbury. The last time the Hawkeyes started three rookies (Aaron Fuller, Matt Gatens and Anthony Tucker) was on Dec. 2, 2008, at Boston College.
? Gabriel Olaseni has blocked at least one shot in seven of nine contests played. He ranks ninth in the league in blocks (1.3).
? Co-captain Eric May started for the first time this year vs. Michigan State (Jan. 10), replacing the injured Roy Devyn Marble. The senior grabbed a season-high seven boards against the Spartans. It marked May’s first start since Jan. 26, 2012, vs. Nebraska. May has posted his best offensive rebound average, assist rate, turnover rate and free throw percentage of his career this season.

BASABE… SPICY!
Melsahn Basabe played two spectacular games off the bench in Iowa’s two games last week (Michigan State and Northwestern). The junior averaged 12.5 points and 3.5 rebounds in an average of 15 minutes of action. Basabe shot 10-of-11 (.909) from the field and 5-of-6 (.833) from the foul line. The native of Glen Cove. N.Y., ranks first in the league in field goal percentage (12-of-15, .800) after four Big Ten contests. Overall, Basabe ranks fourth in team scoring (7.0) and second in blocks (1.1).

IOWA BEAT WISCONSIN IN LAST MEETING
Iowa posted a 67-66 victory over No. 15 Wisconsin on Feb. 23, 2012, in Iowa City. Senior Matt Gatens poured in a game and career-high 33 points. Gatens made his first five 3-pointers of the game, which extended his school record consecutive streak to 12 dating back to the previous contest against Indiana where he made his last seven. Iowa sprinted out to a double-digit first-half advantage and ultimately took a 43-34 lead into intermission. The Hawkeyes, who led start-to-finish, scored 67 points against a Badger team that yielded a nation’s best 51 points per contest. Roy Devyn Marble tallied 11 points and distributed eight assists. Aaron White contributed 12 points and snagged a game-high six rebounds. Wisconsin’s Ben Evans scored 14 points, while Ben Brust had 10. Wisconsin shot 51 percent from the field (29-of-57), while Iowa shot 48 percent (24-of-50). It marked only the second time that an Iowa was victorious when allowing the opposition to shoot 50 percent or better under Fran McCaffery.

HEATING UP
Roy Devyn Marble’s game has soared as of late before injury his ankle, rising to sixth in Big Ten scoring (15.0 ppg). He has scored in double digits in all but two games played this season (Iowa State and Northwestern). In his last six games played, the junior averaged 17.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.2 assists. During that six-game stretch, Marble is shooting 82 percent from the free throw line (37-of-45). He has made 18 of his last 20 attempts from the charity stripe.

`TIS THE SEASON FOR GIVING
Iowa has done an outstanding job sharing the basketball this season. The Hawkeyes have assisted on 66.2 percent of its field goal makes (291 assists on 439 field goals), a rate that is 10th best in the country. Iowa has assisted on 72 percent of its field goal makes the last seven contests (132 assists on 183 field goals).

CLEMMONS PROVIDING SPARK
Since Anthony Clemmons was first inserted into the Hawkeye starting lineup (Dec. 1), he has provided a spark. The native of Lansing, Mich., is averaging five points, 5.8 assists and two rebounds while averaging 22 minutes per game as a starter. Clemmons has registered a 2.6 assist-to-turnover ratio in his 10 starts. For the season, his 2.4 ratio ranks seventh in the Big Ten.

BLOCK PARTY
Last season, Iowa amassed 199 blocks in 35 games (3.4 per game). So far this season, the Hawkeyes have been credited with 79 rejections (4.6 per contest), which ranks third in the conference. Gabriel Olaseni and Melsahn Basabe lead the team with 20 and 19 blocked shots, respectively, while freshman Adam Woodbury has 12. Olaseni, who ranks seventh in Big Ten blocks (1.3), swatted a career-high four shots in Iowa’s win over South Carolina State.

HAWKEYE DEFENSE IMPROVING
Last year, Iowa allowed opponents 72.5 points per contest. Through 17 games in 2012-13, Iowa is yielding 63 points. Iowa held Howard to 36 points on Nov. 15, which were the fewest points a Hawkeye team allowed since a 61-36 win over Bryant on Dec. 5, 2008. Also, the Black and Gold limited Northwestern to 50 points, its fewest output against Iowa since scoring 48 in a 65-48 victory on Feb. 23, 1999 in Iowa City. Also, Iowa is holding its opponents to a much lower field goal percentage this season, compared to the first 17 games a year ago. Hawkeye opponents are shooting at a 38 percent clip this season, compared to 44.6 percent last season.

IN NATIONAL STATISTICS…
Iowa ranks 11th in the country in assists (17.1), 17th in 3-point field goal percentage defense (.283); 28th in field goal percentage defense (.381); and 29th in assist/turnover ratio (1.3). Individually, Anthony Clemmons ranks 48th in assist/turnover ratio (2.45).

WELCOME FRESHMEN
Iowa welcomes five newcomers to the fold for 2012-13. The newest Hawkeyes include guards Anthony Clemmons, Pat Ingram and Mike Gesell; forward Kyle Meyer and center Adam Woodbury. The class ranks 25th in the nation by ESPN.com.

HAWKEYES ARE TOUGH AT HOME
Iowa has won 95 of its 133 games (.714) in Carver-Hawkeye Arena (15,500) over the last nine seasons, including win streaks of 21 straight overall and 12 straight Big Ten Conference wins. Iowa has won 10 of its last 20 home games against ranked opponents. Iowa was a perfect 17-0 at home in 2006, 14-2 in 2007, 10-8 in 2008, 13-4 in 2009, 9-9 in 2010, 8-8 in 2011 and 13-6 in 2012.

IOWA POSTS LARGEST COMEBACK IN SCHOOL HISTORY
Iowa trailed Gardner-Webb by 23 points (38-15) with 13 seconds left in the first half on Nov. 17 in Iowa City. Sophomore Josh Oglesby drained three free throws after being fouled on a 3-point attempt with one second remaining in the half to cut the deficit to 20 (38-18) at halftime. The Hawkeyes rallied in the second half and ultimately won by nine points (65-56), which is a 32-point swing. The comeback is believed to be the largest in school history. The last team in the country to overcome a 20+ halftime deficit was Harvard, which trailed Brown by 22 points (53-31) and won 85-78 on Feb. 12, 2011. The last Big Ten team to overcome a 20+ halftime deficit was Illinois, which trailed at Clemson by 20 points (47-27) and won 76-74 on Dec. 2, 2009.

HAWKEYES SPLIT AT CANCUN CHALLENGE
Iowa split its two games at the Cancun Challenge. The Hawkeyes beat Western Kentucky 63-55 in the semifinals, but fell to Wichita State 75-63 in the championship. Aaron White and Roy Devyn Marble were named to the all-tournament team. The Hawkeyes had three players score 21 points each in the two games (10.5 avg.): Eric May, Mike Gesell and Marble. White tied the Cancun Challenge record for most free throws made in the four tournament games with 28. White tied Ryan Thompson of Rider (2009). Iowa won preliminary round games against Howard and Gardner-Webb in Iowa City.

WHITE, WOODBURY RECEIVE PRESEASON RECOGNITION
Sophomore Aaron White has been named preseason third team All-Big Ten by the website College Sports Madness, while Adam Woodbury was named by CBSSports.com as a top 30 freshman to make an impact. White, who was named to the 2012 Kyle Macy Freshman All-America team, averaged 11.1 points and a team-best 5.7 rebounds a year ago. Woodbury, is a three-time all-state honoree, and was tabbed MVP of the NBA Top 100 Camp in 2011. The 7-foot-1 center topped 1,000 career points and rebounds in his prep career for Sioux City East High School.

COACHING EXPERIENCE
Fran McCaffery has assembled one of the most experienced coaching staffs in the country. Assistant coaches Kirk Speraw, Sherman Dillard and Andrew Francis have over six decades of combined coaching experience. Furthermore, the entire coaching staff combines for 48 years of head coaching experience. Director of basketball operations Jerry Strom is in his 32nd season as a member of the Iowa basketball staff. Additionally, Iowa’s video coordinator, Al Seibert, has 18 years of collegiate coaching experience.

ON THE HORIZON
Iowa will play its next two games on the road beginning at nationally-ranked Ohio State on Tuesday, Jan. 22. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m. (CT) in Columbus, Ohio. The Hawkeyes will then travel to West Lafayette for a game at Purdue on Sunday, Jan. 27 (2:36 p.m. CT).
