Fiedorowicz Named to John Mackey Award Watch List

IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa senior tight end C.J. Fiedorowicz has been named to the 2013 John Mackey Award Watch List, the award’s selection committee announced today. The John Mackey Award has been given annually to the most outstanding tight end in college football since 2000.

Fiedorowicz, a native of Johnsburg, Ill., was an honorable mention All-Big Ten selection by the coaches and media last season. He collected 45 receptions for 433 yards and one touchdown during the 2012 campaign, and currently holds a streak of gathering at least one pass reception in 18 consecutive games. In his three seasons with the Hawkeyes, Fiedorowicz has 61 receptions for 600 yards and four touchdowns.

The award boasts 12 NFL alumni as past recipients, including former Hawkeye Dallas Clark, who received the award in 2002.

The Mackey Midseason Watch List will be released on Oct. 14, and the award will be presented to the winner on Dec. 12, at The Home Depot College Football Awards Red Carpet Show.

Iowa opens the 2013 season against Northern Illinois Aug. 31 at Kinnick Stadium. Kickoff is 2:30 p.m., (BTN).
