IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa women’s tennis team opens the fall season with a trip to Minneapolis to compete at the Gopher Invitational beginning Friday. The three-day event is hosted by the Baseline Tennis Center on the Minnesota campus.
In addition to Iowa, the 11 team field includes South Dakota, Northern Iowa, Drake, Eastern Michigan, Wisconsin, North Dakota, Iowa State, South Dakota State, Gonzaga and Minnesota.
Senior Ruth Seaborne and junior Morven McCulloch are scheduled to compete in the Gold Flight doubles bracket. The duo is ranked No. 28 in the ITA preseason doubles rankings. McCulloch will also compete in the Gold Singles division.
The Hawkeyes have fared well at the Gopher invitational since 2011. Sophomore Annette Dohanics won the Maroon Singles Flight in 2012. In 2011, the Hawkeyes won two singles titles and one doubles title.
