Winston-Salem, N.C. – – The University of Iowa men’s tennis team finished the second day of competition at the Wake Forest Saturday afternoon. Two singles players, along with two doubles team, recorded victories.
In the A2 bracket, senior Juan Estenssoro dropped Tomas Hanzilk of Penn State, 6-0, 6-2. Juan will face Jon Ho of Wake Forest tomorrow in the A2 consolation finals.
The other singles victory of the day came from Juan’s brother, Andres. Playing in the C2 bracket, Andres beat Robin Hochguertl of Lenoir-Rhyne, 6-0, 6-1. Andres wraps up play tomorrow against Nate Shanok of UNC-Charlotte.
In doubles play, Joey White and Chase Tomlins beat the team of Nigro/Bernard, 8-7(5). The duo will play in the fifth place match of C Doubles tomorrow.
Also in C Doubles, Michael Swank and Nils Hallestrand dropped the duo of Samaii/Llamas from Liberty, 8-6. Swank and Hallestrand will move on to face Antropikas/Kapukiran of Stetson in the consolation finals.
The Hawkeyes wrap up tournament play tomorrow.
