IOWA CITY, Iowa — The preseason honors continue to add up for University of Iowa football seniors Brandon Scherff and Carl Davis, as the pair has been tabbed preseason first-team All-Big Ten by The Sporting News.

It is the second honor of the week for the offensive and defensive linemen, as the duo garnered preseason All-America accolades by Athlon Sports on Monday.

Scherff has been tabbed as a preseason second-team All-American by both Phil Steele and Athlon Sports this summer, while also being named preseason first-team All-Big Ten by both publications. Following the 2013 season, the Denison, Iowa, native was a second-team All-American by the Football Writers Association of America, Phil Steele, and College Sports Madness, while also being named first-team All-Big Ten by all three.

Davis has been tabbed preseason third-team All-America by Phil Steele and preseason fourth-team All-America by Athlon Sports. The Detroit, Michigan, native has also been tabbed preseason first-team All-Big Ten by Athlon Sports and second-team All-Big Ten by Phil Steele.

Last season, Davis was a second-team All-Big Ten honoree by league coaches and honorable mention by league media. Athlon Sports also tabbed Davis as second-team All-Big Ten, while Phil Steele and College Sports Madness placed him on their third teams.

The Hawkeyes will open the 2014 season by hosting Northern Iowa on Aug. 30 inside Kinnick Stadium. Tickets are available to be purchased by contacting the UI Athletics Ticket Office at (800) IA-HAWKS.
