IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams have been named College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America Teams.
“We’re excited to once again be honored as Academic All-America teams,” said UI head coach Marc Long. “It’s an expectation and part of our culture that we excel in the classroom and pool. I am proud of the team, staff, and coaches for their efforts in creating an environment for success.”
To be recognized, programs must achieve a 3.00 grade point average or higher over the spring semester. The Iowa men’s team had a 3.17 GPA; the women’s team posted a 3.15 GPA.
The Hawkeye women earned the distinction on the heels of ranking in the top 10 percent of the NCAA’s Academic Progress Rate (APR). The women’s team posted a perfect score of 1,000 for the second straight year.
Iowa also had 27 student-athletes garner Academic All-Big Ten honors — 15 women and 12 men. The 12 men were tied for the most in a single season in school history.
