IOWA CITY, Iowa — Hawkeye fans attending the Big Four Classic in Des Moines on Saturday are encouraged to join the National I-Club and the University of Iowa Alumni Association at the spirit rally prior to tipoff.
The fun begins at 1:30 p.m. in Veterans Memorial Hall in the Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center, 730 Third Street in Des Moines, across from Wells Fargo Arena.
New this year, all four schools — Iowa, Iowa State, Drake, and Northern Iowa — are collaborating to bring fans one large, shared event. Cash refreshments with snacks and appetizers will be offered, while supplies last. In addition, there will be live music, giveaways, and performances by each school’s band and spirit squads.
Big Four Classic – December 19, 2015
1:30-3 p.m. | Pregame Spirit Rally
3:30 p.m. | Game 1 — Drake Bulldogs vs. Iowa Hawkeyes
6 p.m. | Game 2 — Iowa State Cyclones vs. Northern Iowa Panthers
In the spirit of the season, the I-Club will be collecting gently used or new winter weather items for those in need in central Iowa. Fans are encouraged to bring hats, gloves, mittens, coats and other winter weather gear to the event to donate to Central Iowa Shelter & Services in downtown Des Moines.
