LAS VEGAS — University of Iowa freshman wrestler Michael Kemerer won a title at the UWW Junior Freestyle National Championships on Saturday at the South Point Hotel in Las Vegas.
Kemerer, who was 24-2 while redshirting for the Hawkeyes last season, recorded one pin and three technical falls to reach the finals of the 70 kg/154.25 lb. division, where he defeated Evan Wick, 9-8. He was one of five Hawkeyes to reach the medal stand. The others include Jeren Glosser (5th), Paul Glynn (5th), Vince Turk (6th), and Joey Gunther (7th). All four Hawkeyes redshirted in 2015-16.
