IOWA CITY, Iowa — Former University of Iowa men’s golfer Brian Bullington makes his Web.com Tour debut today at the Rust-Oleum Championship in Ivanhoe, Illinois. The four-day event is being held at the Ivanhoe Club.
Bullington, a member of the PGA Tour Latinoamerica, qualified for the Web.com Tour’s Rust-Oleum Championship after tying for 2nd place at Monday’s General Qualifier played at Stonewall Orchard Golf Club in Grayslake, Illinois. The Frankfurt, Illinois, native, carded a four-under-par 68, notching birdies on seven holes.
“I am very proud and I am very happy for Brian,” said UI head coach Tyler Stith. “He’s a relentless worker and has earned this opportunity.
“Brian is one of a number of young professionals that we have developed and who are performing quite well, all while representing our Hawkeye Golf program.”
Also to advance from the Stonewall Orchard site were Brant Peaper of Tequesta, Florida (67), Antonio Murdaca of Adelaide, Australia (68); Michael Gellerman of Sterling, Kansas (68); Jake Scott of Strongsville, Ohio (69); and Bruce Woodall of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida (69).
Bullington was a four-year letterwinner at Iowa, averaging 73.61 strokes per round during his Hawkeye career. A second team All-Big Ten honoree in 2014, he helped the Hawkeyes to three straight top three finishes at the Big Ten Championships from 2013-15 and competed in three consecutive NCAA Regionals.
