IOWA CITY, Iowa — Coming off of one of the best seasons in Hawkeye history, the University of Iowa women’s gymnastics team will open the 2017 season ranked No. 22 in the Road to Nationals preseason poll. This is fifth time that Iowa has entered the season ranked in the top-25 under head coach Larissa Libby and the first time the team has entered the season ranked since 2012.

The Hawkeyes received 1,019 points in coach’s votes to rank 22nd. Oklahoma was ranked first, while LSU and Alabama followed at second and third, respectively.

Iowa — who finished the 2016 season ranked No. 18 — will face off against four teams in the top-25 preseason rankings, including No. 2 LSU, No. 12 Nebraska, No. 24 Illinois-Champaign, and No. 25 George Washington. The Hawkeyes will face No. 24 Illinois-Champaign at home on Feb. 11 and will take on No. 2 LSU (Feb. 17 & 19), No. 12 Nebraska (Feb. 5), and No. 25 George Washington (Feb. 17 & 19) on the road.
