No. 22 Iowa Finishes 3rd at LSU

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana – The No. 22 University of Iowa women’s gymnastics team finished third with a total of 194.200 against No. 2 LSU and No. 20 George Washington on Sunday afternoon.
 
37318LSU won the tri-meet with a 197.975, while George Washington placed second with a 196.100.
 
In the all-around, senior Mollie Drenth tied for the runner-up title with a total of 39.175.
 
Iowa recorded its highest score of the competition on vault with a 49.000. Sophomore Maria Ortiz led the Hawkeyes in the event with a season-high 9.825. Drenth, sophomore Rose Piorkowski, and freshman Charlotte Sullivan followed with scores of 9.800.
 
The Hawkeyes posted a 48.800 on floor. Freshman Clair Kaji tallied a score of 9.850. Junior Lanie Snyder recorded a 9.825, while Drenth registered a 9.800.
 
Iowa scored a total of 48.425 on beam. Drenth led the Hawkeyes in the event with a score of 9.875 to tie for fourth overall. Kaji followed with a 9.825.
 
The Hawkeyes registered a 47.975 on uneven bars. Senior Angel Metcalf led the team with a 9.875 to tie for fourth overall. Junior Melissa Zurawski posted the second-highest score for Iowa in the event with a 9.800.
 
The GymHawks return to action on Friday in Provo, Utah, where they face BYU at 8 p.m. (CT).
