Iowa Hosts Cornell College on Tuesday

IOWA CITY, Iowa — For a second consecutive week, the University of Iowa baseball team has added a midweek game to its schedule. The Hawkeyes will host Cornell College on Tuesday at 3 p.m. (CT) at Duane Banks Field. Admission is free.
 
Iowa is 4-3 on the season after winning 2-of-3 games at the Hoover Classic last weekend in Hoover, Alabama. The Hawkeyes defeated Alabama State, 9-2, on Friday night and closed the weekend with a 14-7 victory over Morehead State.
 
The Hawkeyes’ offense came alive in Hoover, connecting on a season-high 15 hits on Friday, and scored a season-high 14 runs on Sunday. The offensive burst was highlighted by four Hawkeyes who had multi-hit games on Friday and senior Mason McCoy, who had four RBIs Sunday.
 
Freshman RHP Grant Judkins will take the mound for his second career start against Cornell College. The Pella, Iowa, native is 1-0 with a 2.25 ERA this season after defeating Loras College in his Banks Field debut Feb. 22.  He went three innings, allowing one hit and fanning four.   
 
The Rams will counter with senior RHP Andy Dodson. The Lone Tree, Iowa, native went 3-0 with a 3.07 ERA in 15 starts in 2016.  Tuesday’s game will be Cornell’s season opener.
