Iowa Divers Head to NCAA Zone D Championships

IOWA CITY, Iowa — Seven University of Iowa divers will travel to Columbia, Missouri, for the 2017 NCAA Zone D Diving Championships from March 6-8 at the Mizzou Aquatic Center.
 
On Monday, the Hawkeye men will compete off the 1-meter and the women off the 3-meter. On Tuesday, the men will dive off the 3-meter and women off the 1-meter before the championships conclude with the platform competition Wednesday.
 
Iowa will have three student-athletes compete on all three boards in senior Brandis Heffner, sophomore Will Brenner, and freshman Thelma Strandberg. 
 
Junior Morgan Rafferty and sophomores Matt Mauser and Jacintha Thomas will dive off the 1-meter and 3-meter springboards, and senior Calli Head will compete off the platform.
 
Head is a two-time NCAA Championships qualifier off the platform. She placed 31st at the 2016 NCAA Championships following a 40th-place finish in 2015 as a sophomore. 
 
Brenner is Iowa’s school record-holder off the 1-meter with a score of 368.00.
