IOWA CITY, Iowa — Former University of Iowa track and field All-Americans Erik Sowinski and Aaron Mallett are set to compete at the second annual TrackTown Summer Series, June 29-July 6.
The TrackTown Summer Series has been expanded to three meets in 2017. Athletes compete in Portland, San Francisco, and in New York City. The competition includes coed teams representing four different cities (Portland, San Francisco, Philadelphia, New York) and will be a scored competition.
Mallett, who finished sixth at the USA Championships on June 25, will represent the New York Empire in the 110 meter hurdles June 29 in San Francisco. The event will run at 9:20 p.m. (CT) on the Cobb Track on the campus of Stanford University.
Sowinski will run for the San Francisco Surge in the Portland meet on July 2 in the 800 meters at 12:55 p.m. Sowinksi won the event during last year’s inaugural competition with a time of 1:45.38. He finished fourth in the 800 meters at the USA Championships on June 29.
Qualifiers for TrackTown Summer Series final will head to New York for the championship on July 6 inside Icahn Stadium in Randall’s Island Park. The meet is televised on ESPN. Visit tracktownusa.com and follow @GoTrackTownUSA for more information.
