IOWA CITY, Iowa — Former University of Iowa shortstop Mason McCoy has been named to the New York-Penn League All-Star Game, it was announced Tuesday.
The Washington, Illinois, native is hitting .323 (31-of-96) in 30 games for the Alberdeen IronBirds, a Class A Short Season affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. McCoy has nine doubles, three triples, and one home run to go along with 23 runs and 19 RBIs.
The New York-Penn League All-Star Game will be held Aug. 15 at Tri-City’s Joseph L. Bruno Stadium in Troy, New York, beginning at 6 p.m. (CT).
Former Hawkeye Jake Adams, a member of the host Tri-City ValleyCats, will compete in the All-Star Game’s Home Run Derby. The South Dakota native is leading the league with eight home runs this season.
