Gustafson Tabbed Big Ten Co-Player of the Week

IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa junior Megan Gustafson has been named Big Ten Co-Player of the Week , the conference office announced Monday. Gustafson has earned conference recognition in each of the first six weeks of the season. The weekly award is the 12th of her career.

Gustafson registered 26 points, 10 rebounds (six offensive), and shot 73.3 percent (11-for-15) from the field to lead the Hawkeyes past in-state rival Northern Iowa on Dec. 17. It marked her 11th double-double of the season and the 38th of her career. Gustafson has now scored 20 or more points six times this season.

The Port Wing, Wisconsin, native has now earned six straight conference honors. She was named the Big Ten Player of the Week on Nov. 13 and Dec. 4, and was named to the Player of the Week Honor Roll on Nov. 20, Nov. 27, and Dec. 11.

Gustafson is currently ranked in the top-15 nationally in nine categories. She leads the nation in double-doubles (11), ranks third in field goals made (109), field goal percentage (70.3), and rebounds (148), sixth in total points (262) and rebounds per game (12.3), 10th in defensive rebounds per game (8), 12th in points per game (21.8), and 15th in offensive rebounds per game (4).

Gustafson and the 25th-ranked Hawkeyes return to action Thursday, hosting in-state rival Drake. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. (CT) in Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Tickets are $12 for adults and free for youth (18 & younger) and UI students.
