IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa women’s gymnastics team hosts Ball State on Friday at 7 p.m. (CT) at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Doors open at 6 p.m.

Parking is free for Friday’s home meet. Fans are encouraged to park in Lot 46, the parking lot connected to Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
 
PROMOTIONS
Friday’s meet is Iowa’s annual Pink Meet in honor of breast cancer awareness. Fans are encouraged to wear pink.
 
The GymHawks will have four different special edition posters, with one edition available at each home meet throughout the season. The first 500 fans at each home meet will receive a poster, so fans are encouraged to come early to the remaining two home meets to collect the final two posters of the series.
 
The Kids Zone will be available for young Hawkeye fans prior to all meets this season. It will open one and a half hours prior to the meet for season ticket holders and one hour before the meet for the general public. The Kids Zone will include a balloon artist, a poster making station, and the balance beam.

THE COMPETITION
Ball State is ranked No. 42 nationally with a 9-4 overall record. The team also ranks 33rd on floor (48.883 average), 35th on vault (48.788) and beam (48.575), and 53rd on bars (48.263). The Cardinals defeated Bowling Green, 195.000-194.275, at home on Feb 11. Led by head coach Joanna Seleem, Ball State returns 11 letterwinners off its 2017 squad, including junior Kaitlyn Menzoine, and welcomes six newcomers.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Iowa dropped a 195.675-194.900 decision to then-No. 8 Nebraska on Feb. 10 at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The Hawkeyes attracted 3,502 fans to break the program attendance record.
 
The team registered nine top-five finishes. Five GymHawks also earned seven season bests and four career highs. Sophomore Charlotte Sullivan placed second in the all-around with a 38.525. This is the fourth consecutive week that she has finished in the top-two in the all-around. Junior Nicole Chow finished second on vault with a career-high 9.800, while senior Nikki Youd finished second on beam with a season-best 9.875.
 
 
IN THE RANKINGS
Iowa is ranked sixth in the Big Ten Conference and No. 38 in the nation.
 
As a team, the GymHawks rank 24th on beam (48.804 average), 36th on floor (48.858), 40th on vault (48.717), and 51st on bars (48.313).
 
Three Hawkeyes rank in the top 75 nationally in event standings:
All-Around: Sophomore Charlotte Sullivan ranks 71st in the all-around (38.946).
Beam: On beam, junior Nicole Chow stands at 33rd (9.850) and senior Nikki Youd stands at 42nd (9.842).
