IOWA CITY, Iowa — The 2018 University of Iowa volleyball schedule released Wednesday by head coach Bond Shymansky includes 11 home matches at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
The Hawkeyes open the season with three road trips before hosting the home opener against Eastern Illinois on Sept. 9. The remaining 10 home matches are against Big Ten opponents.
SCHEDULE HIGHLIGHTS
- The 31-match schedule includes 15 opponents that participated in the 2017 NCAA Volleyball Championships. That includes two matches against NCAA champion Nebraska, and one match against Penn State, who was eliminated by the Huskers in the national semifinals.
- Iowa has home-and-away series against seven Big Ten schools – Maryland, Michigan State, Northwestern, Nebraska, Purdue, Rutgers, and Wisconsin.
- The Hawkeyes play six conference schools just one time. Iowa hosts Michigan, Ohio State, and Penn State, and travels to Illinois, Indiana, and Rutgers
- The Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series against Iowa State is Friday, Sept. 14, in Ames, Iowa.
- Iowa is on the road for the Big Ten/Pac 12 Challenge. The Hawkeyes play Washington on Aug. 31 and Colorado on Sept. 1. Both matches are in Seattle, Washington, and both schools qualified for the NCAA Championships last season.
- The Hawkeyes open the season at the Lipscomb Tournament in Nashville on Aug. 25. It is their first of three non-conference tournaments. Iowa plays at the Drake Tournament, Sept. 8, in Des Moines, and at the Iowa State Tournament on Sept. 14-15 in Ames, Iowa.
SEASON TICKETS
- Season ticket renewals begin May 15.
- New season ticket orders go on sale June 25.
- Single match tickets go on sale July 13.
Season tickets for adults and youth are $45/$30 for reserved, and $30/$10 for general admission. Single match admission is $6 for adults and $3 for youth. UI students are admitted free, and group rates are available at the UI Athletics Ticket Office.
