IOWA CITY, Iowa — Former Arizona State outside hitter Griere Hughes has signed a tender to join the University of Iowa volleyball program in 2018, UI head coach Bond Shymansky announced Tuesday.
 
Hughes played her prep volleyball at Hamilton Southeastern High School in Fishers, Indiana, before joining the Sun Devils in 2017. As a freshman at ASU, Hughes recorded 325 kills, 80 digs, and 30 blocks. She appeared in 31 matches, averaging 3.22 kills per set.
 
“We look forward to adding Griere’s athleticism and skill to our outside hitting contingent,” said Shymansky. “She is dynamic and fluid. and brings great experience from her playing time in the Pac-12.  She is an outgoing and open person who will add to the chemistry of our team.”
 
Hughes has three years of eligibility remaining and is eligible to play for the Hawkeyes as a sophomore in 2018.
