CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Tuesday’s third and final round of the Golfweek Conference Challenge held at the Cedar Rapids Country Club has been canceled due to heavy rain. The University of Iowa (565) men’s golf team finished runner-up in the shortened tournament behind first-place Arkansas State (553). It marks the second straight year that the Hawkeyes finished second at the Golfweek Conference Challenge.

The Hawkeyes had four players finish in the top 25. Junior Alex Schaake (139) tied for second place, freshman Gonzalo Leal Montero (140) tied for fifth place, senior Matthew Walker (142) tied for 13th, while redshirt junior Alex Moorman (144) tied for 22nd. Arkansas State’s Julien Sale was the tournament medalist, finishing the 36-hole tournament eight-under-par (136).

Iowa returns to action Sept. 30-Oct. 2 when the Hawkeyes compete at the Erin Hills Intercollegiate in Wisconsin.
