Seniors Lead Iowa on Day 1

Knoxville, Tenn. – Seniors Shawn Rennegarbe and Kristin Glesne paced the University of Iowa women’s golf team in the first day of the Mercedes Benz Women’s Collegiate Championship on Monday.
 
Charlotte is in first with a score of 585 (+8). They are followed by No. 15 Kent State (587; E) and Maryland (588; +12). Iowa is in 17th, carding a score of 624 (+56) after 36 holes.
 
SENIOR LEADERSHIP
Seniors Shawn Rennegarbe and Kristin Glesne led the Hawkeye lineup during the first two rounds. Rennegarbe carded a score of 152 (+10) with three birdies in the second round, jumping up 13 spots on the leaderboard. Glesne utilized three birdies in the first round and one in the second to register a two-round score of 155 (+13). Rennegarbe and Glesne are tied for 42nd and 60th, respectively.
 
SECOND ROUND IMPROVEMENT
The Hawkeyes capped off the second round with a score of 306 (+22). Freshman Manuela Lizarazu jumped up three spots on the leaderboard during the second round with one birdie. Sophomore Stephanie Herzog and freshmen Dana Lerner and Manuela Lizarazu all carded lower second round scores.
