COLUMBUS, Ohio — The University of Iowa soccer team fell to Ohio State, 2-0, on Thursday night at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in Columbus, Ohio.
The lose moves the Hawkeyes to 5-5-2 overall and 1-3-1 in Big Ten Play.
In a first half where Iowa saw limited chances, junior Isabella Blackman put the Hawkeyes’ only shot on goal, but Buckeye goalkeeper Devon Kerr made the save to keep the game scoreless.
After a scoreless 70 minutes of action, Ohio State took the lead when Talani Barnett headed the ball in off a corner kick. Redshirt senior Rose Ripslinger had a chance at the equalizer in the 72nd and 75th minute, but Kerr kept Iowa off the board.
The Buckeyes extended their lead to 2-0 when Izzy Rodriquez converted a penalty kick in the 82nd minute.

The Hawkeyes travel to University Park, Pennsylvania, to face No. 20 Penn State on Sept. 30 at noon (CT) at Jeffrey Field.
