“Kids Day At Kinnick” Set For August 11

IOWA CITY, Iowa – – The University of Iowa football team will host its annual “Kids Day at Kinnick” presented by University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital on Saturday, Aug. 11.  Gates to Kinnick Stadium open at 11 a.m. (CT), with practice scheduled to begin at noon.
 
Team members will sign autographs for kids at approximately 11:30 a.m. along the front of the west and south stands.  Free schedule posters, cards, magnets, and rosters will be available inside all open gates and in Krause Family Plaza.  Fans are discouraged from bringing additional items to be autographed.
 
Free parking is available on hard surface lots, while normal ramp fees apply.  Concession stands are open, with items being sold at discounted prices.
 
Fans attending Kids Day should enter Kinnick Stadium at Gates A (south end zone) and E (west side).  Regular season game-day search procedures will be in place and fans will be allowed to sit in the south and west stands. 
 
Fans should note that there will be no access to the playing surface of Kinnick.  Fans are also reminded that the annual “Kids Day at Kinnick” activity is designed primarily for the enjoyment of younger fans.  Therefore, possession of an open container of beer or wine, or consumption of hard liquor on University property, including parking lots, is prohibited by law.
 
KRAUSE FAMILY PLAZA
Prior to the action on the field, activities will be held in the Krause Family Plaza, which opens to the public at 9 a.m.  Hawkeye Fans are invited to visit the Kids Zone for inflatable games, face painting, temporary tattoos, other prizes, and a chance to meet Herky the Hawk.  The Iowa mascot will be available for photos from 10:30 to 11 a.m. The Iowa volleyball and soccer teams will be in attendance to sign autographs and meet fans. Other kid-friendly activities will be provided by University of Iowa Children’s Hospital, Alliant Energy, Kubota Tractors, Iowa Corn, Noodles & Company, Delta Dental of Iowa, and Mellow Mushroom.
 
JUNIOR HAWK CLUB
Families can also learn more about the benefits of joining the Junior Hawk Club.  Members of the Junior Hawk Club who sign up prior to “Kids Day at Kinnick” have the opportunity to get an exclusive tour of the Kinnick Stadium press box. 2018 SCHEDULE AND TICKET INFORMATION
The Hawkeyes open the 2018 season with consecutive September home games against Northern Illinois (2:30 p.m., BTN), Iowa State (the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series game, 4 p.m., FOX), Northern Iowa (6:30 p.m., BTN), and defending Big Ten West champion Wisconsin. Iowa closed the 2017 campaign with wins at Nebraska (56-14) and over Boston College (27-20) in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl.
 
Additional home games include Homecoming versus Maryland (11 a.m.), Family Weekend versus Northwestern (TBA), and the Hy-Vee Heroes game against Nebraska (11 a.m., FOX) the day after Thanksgiving.  Wisconsin (13) and Northwestern (10) each won at least 10 games last season, while Northern Illinois, Iowa State, and Northern Iowa each won eight games and participated in postseason play.
 
Questions concerning the purchase of 2018 football tickets, including general public, UI faculty/staff and UI student seasons tickets by current UI students, and mini-pack options, should be directed to the UI Athletics Ticket Office. Minio-packs allow fans to experience three games at Kinnick Stadium for an affordable price.  Fans can customize a three-game package that fits their schedule. Mini-packs provide a great way to secure tickets to the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series game versus Iowa State or the conference-opening contest versus Wisconsin, along with two additional games for $195.
