IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa senior Megan Gustafson has been named to the John R. Wooden Award National Ballot, the announcement was made Saturday on ESPNW. The National Ballot consists of 15 student-athletes who are candidates for the Wooden Award All-America Team and the Wooden Award Trophy.
Gustafson ranks in the top-3 nationally in eight statistical categories. She leads the nation in points per game (27.7), field goal percentage (70.3), field goals made (343), and total points (832), ranks second in double-doubles (28), defensive rebounds per game (10), and total rebounds (402), and ranks third in rebounds per game (13.4).
Voting takes place from March 19-March 26, and voters take into consideration a player’s entire season of play, as well as the opening rounds of the NCAA Tournament.
The Wooden Award All-America team, consisting of the nation’s top five players and the finalists for the Wooden Award, will be announced on ESPNU on April 3. The winner will be announced on ESPN2 on Friday, April 12.
Gustafson and the No. 10/10 Hawkeyes return to action tonight, taking on Rutgers in the Big Ten Tournament semifinals. Tipoff is at 6:30 p.m. (CT) on BTN.
