IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa senior Nathan Mylenk has been named Big Ten Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday.
Mylenek led Iowa to a first-place finish at the Hawkeye Invitational on Sept. 6. He finished the 6,000-meter race in 18:16 to jump from sixth to third on Iowa’s all-time top 10 list.
The Big Ten weekly honor is the first of Mylenek’s career, and the first by a Hawkeye men’s cross country runner since Jeff Thode won the award in 2010.
The Hawkeyes return to action Sept. 21 at the Woody Greeno Invite in Lincoln, Nebraska.
