DOHA, Qatar — Former University of Iowa All-American Brittany Brown won a silver medal Wednesday in the women’s 200 meters at the 2019 World Championships in Doha, Qatar.
Brown secured a spot on the podium with a new personal best 22.22. She is the first Hawkeye to earn a medal at the World Championship since Erik Sowinski won bronze in the 800 meters at the 2016 Indoor World Championships. Brown was surpassed by Dina Asher-Smith from Great Britain who took home gold in 21.88.
In the women’s discus today, University of Iowa Senior Laulauga Tausaga advanced to the finals in the women’s discus by hitting a new personal best and school record of 63.94 meters (209-9). She advanced to compete for a world title Friday at 1 p.m. (CT).
