IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa women’s gymnastics head coach Larissa Libby announced the 2020 schedule on Tuesday. The Hawkeyes are slated to host five home meets at Carver-Hawkeye Arena against Air Force and Ball State, Michigan State, Michigan, West Virginia, and Western Michigan. Michigan and Michigan State finished the 2019 season ranked fifth and 41st, respectively.
The Hawkeyes’ road schedule consists of five opponents who finished the 2019 season ranked in the NCAA women’s gymnastics rankings top 25, including Oregon State (6), Georgia (8), California (11), Minnesota (13), and Iowa State (20).
The 2020 Hawkeyes return 13 letterwinners and welcome five new additions to the team.
The GymHawks finished sixth at the Big Ten Championships with a score of 196.075, and concluded the 2019 season ranked 31st in the nation. Senior Clair Kaji was named first-team All-Big Ten and sophomore Lauren Guerin and former GymHawk Nicole Chow were named second-team All-Big Ten. To cap off the successful season, junior Charlotte Sullivan was named All-Championship Honoree, and 11 gymnasts received Academic All-Big Ten Honors.
Following the conference championships, the Hawkeyes made their 15th consecutive postseason appearance, placing fourth in session two at the NCAA Corvallis Regional with a score of 194.775.
The GymHawks preview the 2020 season with the annual Black and Gold Intrasquad on Dec. 7 at 12 p.m. (CT) at the UI Field House.
Season tickets are available at hawkeyesports.com/tickets, by calling 1-800-IA-HAWKS, or at the UI Athletics Ticket Office at the north entrance of Carver-Hawkeye Arena for $30. All seating is general admission.
Youth ages 18 and under and UI students receive free admission to all regular season home meets.
Season ticket holders are invited to a “Meet the Hawkeyes” event on Dec. 6 from 6:30-8 p.m. in the Feller Club room inside Carver Hawkeye Arena.
