Hawkeyes Post Season Bests on Day 1

MINNEAPOLIS — The University of Iowa swimming and diving team opened the Minnesota Invitational with strong showings in relays from both the men’s and women’s teams, posting season bests in every event.

The Hawkeyes posted season bests in the 200-medley relay and 800-free relay on the first night of the Minnesota Invitational.
 
The 200-medley team of freshman Millie Sansome, juniors Sage Ohlensehlen and Kelsey Drake, and senior Hannah Burvill bested the season’s previous record by more than two seconds, touching in a time of 1:40.81. The men’s team of senior John Colin, freshman Will Myhre, and seniors Michael Tenney and Joe Myhre posted a time of 1:28.41, besting the season best from one month ago by a second.
 
In the 800-free relay, Burvill, Sansome, senior Allyssa Fluit, and sophomore Lauren McDougall swam a season best time of 7:11.57. Rounding out the first night of competition, the 800-free relay of sophomore Aleksey Tarasenko, Tenney, sophomores Mateusz Arndt and Jackson Allmon finished in a time of 6:27.21. 
 
ON DECK
The Hawkeyes return to action for day two of the Minnesota Invitational tomorrow at 10 a.m. (CT) for prelims and 6 p.m. (CT) for finals.
