IOWA CITY, Iowa – Four University of Iowa student-athletes – Evan Davis (men’s gymnastics), Payton Haack (men’s track), Paige Magee (women’s track), and Lea Zeitler (women’s golf) – were named February’s Student-Athletes of the Month by UI’s Student-Athlete Academic Services.

Davis, a junior from Houston, Texas, won the all-around title in back-to-back meets against No. 4 Illinois and No. 5 Penn State. After winning the horizontal bars and finishing top five in all six events against Illinois, Davis was named Big Ten Gymnast of the Week. He ranks ninth nationally in all-around.

Men’s gymnastics has two more regular season meets before competing at the Big Ten Championships on April 3.

Haack, a junior from Westfield, Indiana, won the Big Ten title in the heptathlon, breaking the school record with 5,749 points to help the Iowa men win the Indoor Big Ten team title for the first time since 1929.

Magee, a freshman from Columbia, Missouri, won the Big Ten title in the 60-meter hurdles with a mark of 8.26, the third fastest time in program history. She helped the Iowa women place third at the Big Ten Indoor meet, matching the team’s highest finish in program history.

NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships are set for March 12-13 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Zeitler, a sophomore from Austria, was named the Big Ten women’s Golfer of the Week, placing second at the Rebel Beach Intercollegiate. She posted an even-par 216 in three rounds to tie the 10th lowest 54-hole score in school history. Zeitler’s second-round 66 (-6) set an 18-hole school record.

The women’s golf team is competing in the Wildcat Invitational in Tucson, Arizona, Monday and Tuesday.
