Iowa Adds Gopher Transfer Haley Tyson

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Minnesota transfer Haley Tyson will join the University of Iowa women’s gymnastics program for the 2022-23 season, it was announced Monday by head coach Larissa Libby. Tyson will have three seasons of eligibility remaining with the Hawkeyes.

During her lone season with the Gophers, Tyson posted a season-high 9.825 on beam in a dual meet at Illinois on Feb. 6. She competed in five dual meets on beam during the season, including making her collegiate debut against Iowa and UCLA on Jan. 17.

The Aurora, Illinois, native competed for Phenom Gymnastics as a prep, where she was first in all-around in Illinois and a 2018 JO National Floor Champion. She won 2019 state titles on vault, bars and floor and was the regional vault and all-around champion in 2019. She graduated from Waubonsie Valley High School.

Tyson is the seventh gymnast to sign with the program since November, joining Hanna Castillo (Boca Raton, Fla.), Avery Chambers (Lombard, Ill.), Bailey Libby (Iowa City, Iowa), Gianna Masella (Palm Harbor, Fla.), Karina Munoz (East Brunswick, N.J.) and Kaia Vanney (Redondo Beach, Calif.).
