Hawkeyes Finish 4th at Gopher Invite

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The University of Iowa men’s golf team concluded the third round of play at the Gopher Invitational on Monday afternoon. The Hawkeyes finished in fourth place as a team out of 15 schools.

Sophomore Noah Kent and junior Gage Messingham both finished inside top-15 for the weekend. Northern Colorado Transfer, Messingham was the only player on Iowa’s team to shoot 72 or better for three consecutive rounds. Messingham also led the Hawkeyes with 14 birdies and an eagle through 54 holes of play. Kent was second with eight total birdies for the weekend.

Sophomore Max Tjoa record six total birdies. Tjoa was Iowa’s third-lowest score for the weekend at 4-over par, finishing 17th overall.

Iowa competed against: Iowa State (+8), Minnesota (+10), Nebraska (+13), Rutgers (+17), Marquette (+18), Kent State (+20), Furman (+22), New Mexico (+24), Baylor (+31), UNC-Wilmington (+32), West Virginia (+36), St. Thomas (+44), Georgia Southern (+48), and Northern Illinois (+59).
