NORMAL, Ill. – The University of Iowa softball defeated Illinois State, 4-0, on Saturday afternoon at Marian Kneer Stadium in the final game of the fall season.
Iowa used the combination of Jalen Adams and Andrea Jaskowiak in the circle to hold the Redbirds scoreless. They held Illinois State to no runs on four hits and had two strikeouts.
The Hawkeyes were held scoreless through four innings of work. The broke through in the fifth as Avery Jackson and Tatianna Roman reached on back-to-back walks. Both came around to score on an RBI double from sophomore Jena Young to give Iowa the, 2-0, lead. Iowa added to its lead on the seventh as freshman Arlette Caravaca and Young were both plated on an RBI double off the bat of sophomore Soo-Jin Berry. Jaskowiak retired the Redbirds in order to secure the victory for the Hawkeyes.
Iowa finished the game with four runs on eight hits and one Illinois State error.
