Hawkeyes Complete Day 1 at Collegiate Invitational

The University of Iowa women’s golf team ended the first day of the Collegiate Invitational in 12th place at the Guadalajara Country Club. The Hawkeyes fired 460 over 27 holes.

GUADALAJARA, Mexico – The University of Iowa women’s golf team ended the first day of the Collegiate Invitational in 11th place at the Guadalajara Country Club. The Hawkeyes fired 460 over 27 holes.

Three Hawkeyes – senior Paula Miranda, sophomore Ximena Benites and junior Riley Lewis – are tied for 43rd place with 115s. Miranda and Benites are at even par through nine holes during their second round.

As a team, Iowa is +3 through nine holes during their second round after firing a 313 during Friday morning’s opening round. No. 12 Florida State holds a four shot lead in the team standings heading into Saturday with a 427 total. No. 23 TCU and No. 11 Virginia, the host school, are tied for second with 431s.

Individually, three players – Florida State’s Lottie Woad and Virginia’s Amanda Sambach and Rebecca Skoler, who is competing as an individual, are tied for the lead at four-under par.
