PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The University of Iowa swimming and diving team finished its tri-meet against Nebraska and Rutgers on Saturday morning inside the Werblin Recreation Center. Iowa defeated Rutgers 182.50-170.50 and fell to Nebraska 223-130.
"Coming into this competition, our team knew it was going to take a lot of focus and energy to compete at a high level over a two day period," Iowa head coach Nathan Mundt said. "We did just that, and had several quality performances leading into the Big Ten Championship. We are fortunate to come away with a win against Rutgers, and we’re excited to get home and prepare for our trip to Ohio State in just a couple of weeks!"
Olivia Swalley collected Iowa’s individual win on the day, with a time of 4:11.87 in the 400 IM.
The Hawkeyes notched two personal bests and one season best on the final day of competition. Both personal bests came in the 100 butterfly. Leslie Wendel took over a second off of her previous best, setting a new time of 56.89. Olivia Asay’s time of 57.11 landed her a new personal best as well. Josie Hood followed up soon after in the 200 freestyle, collecting her new season-best time of 1:51.59.
Iowa finished the day out strong with its second-place 400 free relay. Nora Kemp, Molly Pedersen, Madison Stone, and Hood, came together with a time of 3:24.74 to add some final points to Iowa’s total.
