IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa men’s tennis team grabbed a, 4-3, victory in a close match against Dartmouth today inside the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex.
After winning the doubles point on courts one and two, the Hawkeyes headed into singles where four matches went to three-set decisions.
Junior Lefteris Theodorou was the only Hawkeye to win in straight sets. The Hawkeye played on court one for just the second time this season and defeated Ciro Riccardi, 6-2, 6-3.
With Dartmouth leading 3-2, the match was left to junior Jake Jacoby and sophomore Jonas Larsen, both in the third set.
Jacoby finished with a tiebreak on court six, besting Max Schmidt, 6-1, 3-6, 7-6(5).
Larsen clinched the match for Iowa, 6-4, 5-7, 6-4, over George Wall in the final match of the day.
The Hawkeyes’ final two matches of February will be on the road. Iowa (5-2) next competes in a road contest at Oregon on Feb. 11, followed by a match at Denver on Feb. 19.
