2017 — Went 0-0 with a 1.50 ERA… allowed one run on three hits over six innings and punched out four in season-opening start at South Florida (2/18)… underwent a partial repair surgery of the UCL on March 15… missed the remainder of the season.

At Indiana (2014) — Redshirted… played summer ball for the Eau Claire Express in the Northwoods League, where he threw a 78-pitch complete game, giving up three hits and one unearned run.

High School — Four-time all-conference selection, earning first-team as a freshman and sophomore as a pitcher, honorable mention as a junior as a pitcher, and second-team as a positional player as a senior… also was second-team all-district as a sophomore… went 4-3 with a 3.12 ERA with 39 strikeouts-to-four walks in 51 innings as a freshman… was 5-2 with a 1.47 ERA with 53 strikeouts and 11 walks in 57 innings as a sophomore, limiting hitters to a .206 average… posted a 3-3 record with a 3.53 ERA with 51 strikeouts and five walks in 39 2/3 innings as a junior… helped team to conference titles as a sophomore and senior and a sixth place state finish as a senior… played club baseball for the Cedar Rapids Steel for two seasons… high school coach was Jeremy Eliott.

Personal — Given name is Calvin John Eldred, Jr… born May 6, 1995, in Milwaukee, Wis… son of Cal and Christi Eldred… father played baseball at Iowa under Duane Banks, was the 17th pick in the 1989 MLB Draft, and played 16 professional seasons, 13 in the majors for the Milwaukee Brewers (7), Chicago White Sox (2), and St. Louis Cardinals (3)… Cal is currently a special assistant to the GM for the Kansas City Royals and a BTN analyst… has four younger siblings, Luke, Emily, Abby, and Hollee… majoring in environmental policy and planning.
