IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa head coach Lisa Bluder has been named the recipient of the Iowa Girls’ High School Athletic Union’s First Lady Award. Coach Bluder will be honored Saturday, March 3 at the 2018 Iowa Girls’ State Basketball Tournament.

Bluder is the 13th recipient of the IGHSAU’s most prestigious award which is given “to a daughter of Iowa – recognizing the million girls of the commonwealth who have carried the tradition and training of a sport into varied and important careers – and for singularly illustrious and most memorable accomplishments.”

“I consider this one of the top honors that I could possibly receive,” said Bluder. “Being an ‘Iowa Girl’ has always been special to me.  I am so thankful that I grew up in a state with such a rich tradition of offering girls opportunities to compete in sport.  This obviously made a significant impact on my life and career.  I am thankful to the Iowa Girls Athletic Union for the amazing experiences that I had and I remain grateful for all the opportunities that they continue to give to the girls of Iowa.  I am truly honored to receive the IGHSAU First Lady Award; it is humbling to be a part of the sorority of women that have previously received this honor.”
