"When it comes to name, image, and likeness, it’s a critical, critical piece for our student-athletes and our success competitively, no different than the generosity that's coming in through NIL gifts and through the SWARM and in other ways. It's just as important these days as scholarships and facilities and any other needs."

Women's Basketball

The landscape of college athletics is constantly evolving and the NIL changes will be some of the most monumental shifts that college athletics has ever seen. That's why I am so excited about our Iowa NIL program here at the University of Iowa. We will be able to position our athletes, right from the start, to be at the forefront of creating their personal brand by providing our student-athletes with all the necessary education and tools that they will need. There is no better place to build a personal brand than in Iowa City as an Iowa Hawkeye.

Name, Image, Likeness Policy

The University of Iowa Athletics Department understands the new dynamic of the student-athlete experience as legislation allowing student-athletes the ability to monetize their name, image and likeness (NIL) becomes a reality. In so doing, the UI Athletics Department confirms its role in educating our current student-athletes on the NCAA rules and regulations surrounding permissible use of their NIL. The purpose of the University of Iowa Athletics Name, Image, Likeness Policy is to ensure student- athletes are aware of NCAA rules and regulations, as well as Big Ten, state and federal regulations regarding NIL to protect their athletics eligibility.
