IOWA CITY, Iowa – Three University of Iowa student-athletes – Daianne Hayashida, Tereza Dejnozkova and Marisa Schmidt -- have earned postseason recognition by the Big Ten Conference, it was announced Wednesday by the league office.

Hayashida was selected to the first team, Dejnozkova earned second-team honors and Schmidt was recognized as the team’s Big Ten Sportsmanship Award honoree. It is the third straight season Iowa has had a player garner All-Big Ten recognition.

Hayashida earned her second straight All-Big Ten nod after posting a 12-5 dual record during the spring at the top two singles position.  The Lima, Peru, native went 6-2 in Big Ten play and she finished the regular season winning six of her final seven matches.

The junior has a team-high 19 victories during the 2024-25 season.  Currently ranked No. 110 in the ITA singles rankings, Hayashida has a 2-2 record at No. 1 singles and a 10-3 mark at the two line.

Hayashida also went 11-5 this spring (15 wins overall) in doubles, competing primarily at the No. 2 line alongside Schmidt.  The duo closed out the regular season with a 6-3 win over Washington’s 52nd-ranked doubles duo.

Dejnozkova earned her first career All-Big Ten honor (and second career all-league honoree) after posting a 9-9 singles record during the spring season.  The Prague, Czech Republic, native was also a second-team All-Sun Belt selection last season at South Alabama.

Competing primarily as Iowa’s No. 1 singles player, Dejnozkova posted six wins at the one line and she teamed with Nikita Vishwase to form the Hawkeyes’ top doubles tandem.  Ranked in ITA doubles for much of the spring, the duo won 10 matches at the No. 1 doubles position.

Schmidt was Iowa’s Big Ten Sportsmanship Award recipient – an honor presented to student-athletes who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior.  The honorees must also be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the competition setting.

The Germany native went 9-7 during the dual season, winning all nine of her matches at the No. 3 singles position.  She also went 10-4 in doubles, playing at all three spots in the lineup.

The ninth-seeded Hawkeyes (13-9) open Big Ten Tournament play at 11 a.m. (CT) against eighth-seeded Maryland in Libbey Park in Ojai, California.  The dual will be streamed live on B1G+.
