IOWA VS. MARYLAND
Iowa and Maryland are meeting for the fifth time in series history.
The Hawkeyes have won each of the four previous meetings, including both trips to Maryland. The Terps hosted the Hawkeyes in the series first meeting in 1973. Iowa won that dual, 25-6. Iowa won 33-3 at Maryland in the first meeting as Big Ten opponents, 33-3, in 2015. The Hawkeyes won 34-6 on a neutral mat in 2009, and 36-9 in the teams’ last meeting in 2015 in Iowa City.

ROAD TRIPPING THROUGH THE B1G
Iowa has won 22 straight conference road duals. The Hawkeyes’ last road loss was Jan. 22, 2012 at Penn State (22-12).
The Hawkeyes have four Big Ten road duals this season, beginning this weekend. Iowa wrestles at Ohio State on Jan. 21 and at Penn State Feb. 10.

HAWKEYE DEBUTS?
Carter Happel (141), Jeren Glosser (149), and Alex Marinelli (165) could potentially make their Hawkeye dual debuts this weekend.
Happel is 4-1 in his redshirt freshman campaign, placing second at the Luther Open to teammate Max Murin.
The four-time Iowa high school state champion was 22-3 competing unattached last season. He brought home four tournament titles as a freshman.
Glosser is 22-5 in his career, all open tournament appearances. The sophomore is 9-1 this season, placing third at Lindenwood and first at the Luther Open. He as a team-high five pins. Glosser was 13-4 last season with a tournament title at the Pat “Flash” Flanagan Open.
Marinelli went 13-2 competing unattached as a freshman in 2016-17. He won titles at the Grand View and Missouri Valley Open, and placed fourth at Midlands. The four-time Ohio State champion has not wrestled this season.

MOVING UP THE RANKINGS
Sophomore Cash Wilcke moved up one spot in this week’s Intermat rankings to No. 7, a career best. Wilcke is 5-0 this season with a pair of major decisions. Wilcke did not crack the rankings last year, but he did advance to the round of 12 at the NCAA Championships, falling one win shy of the medal stand.
Junior Sam Stoll also climbed one spot in the rankings to No. 6. Stoll is 5-0 with four falls this season. Seventeen of his 34 career wins have come via fall.

APPROACHING 1,000
Iowa’s overall dual meet record is 992-228-31 (.799) in 108 seasons. The University of Iowa would be the fourth team in NCAA history to reach 1,000 program wins (Oklahoma State, Iowa State, Oregon State).
The Hawkeyes have won 23 national titles and 35 Big Ten titles. Iowa’s 54 NCAA Champions have won a total of 82 NCAA individual titles, crowning six three-time and 16 two-time champions. The Hawkeyes’ 112 Big Ten champions have combined for 199 conference titles. There have been seven four-time, 18 three-time, and 30 two-time Big Ten champions from Iowa.
    Iowa’s 154 All-Americans have earned All-America status 324 times, including 19 four-time, 37 three-time and 39 two-time honorees.
