CEDAR CITY, Utah — The University of Iowa women’s gymnastics team fell to Southern Utah, 195.850-195.775, on Friday evening at the America First Event Center.

37607MEET HIGHLIGHTS
Three GymHawks earned event titles and the team registered 15 top-five finishes to highlight the meet. Five GymHawks also recorded eight season highs.

ALL-AROUND
Junior Nicole Chow finished second in the all-around with a 39.175, while sophomore Charlotte Sullivan placed third with a 39.025.

BARS
Iowa began the night on bars with a 48.825. Senior Melissa Zurawski led the Hawkeyes in the event with a score of 9.825, placing second. Senior Lanie Snyder and Sullivan followed with scores of 9.775. This marks a season best for Snyder.

VAULT
Iowa moved to vault next and earned a 48.875. Junior Maria Ortiz and Chow tied for third with scores of 9.800, while Zurawski followed with a 9.775.

FLOOR
The GymHawks posted a 48.975 on floor. Snyder tied her season best and took home her fourth floor title of the season with a 9.900. Senior Nikki Youd, sophomore Gina Leal, and Chow tied for fifth with scores of 9.775. This marks a career high for Youd and Leal.

BEAM          
Iowa ended the competition with a 49.100 on beam. Chow and Youd tied for the win with scores of 9.900. This marks a season high for Youd and ties Chow’s career best. Sophomore Breanna Fitzke and Sullivan tied for fourth place with scores of 9.775.

UP NEXT
The Hawkeyes host Southeast Missouri State on Friday, March 2, at 7 p.m. (CT) at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Doors open at 6 p.m. Friday’s meet is Senior Night, and the Hawkeyes will honor the seniors after the meet.
