GymHawks Earn Season High on Floor Against TWU

DENTON, Texas — The University of Iowa women’s gymnastics team earned a season-high 49.225 on floor, but ultimately dropped a 195.575-195.525 decision to Texas Woman’s University on Sunday afternoon at the Kitty Magee Arena.

MEET HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Hawkeyes earned a season-high 49.225 on floor.
  • Three GymHawks — Senior Melissa Zurawski (bars, 9.875), senior Lanie Snyder (floor, 9.875), and junior
  • Nicole Chow (beam, 9.875) — won event titles.
  • Six GymHawks registered 15 top-three finishes.

Sophomore Charlotte Sullivan finished second in the all-around with a 38.650, while Chow followed in third with a 38.600.
 
BARS
The Hawkeyes began the competition on bars with a 48.425. Zurawski won her third bars title of the season with 9.875, while Snyder placed third with a season-high 9.825.
 
VAULT
Iowa moved to vault for the second rotation and recorded a 48.900. Sullivan, Snyder, and Ortiz tied for third with scores of 9.800.  This marks a career best for Snyder.
 
FLOOR
The GymHawks registered a season-best 49.225 on floor in the third rotation. Snyder took home her sixth floor title of the season with a 9.875. Chow, Sullivan, and Zurawski tied for third place, each posting of 9.850.
 
BEAM
The Hawkeyes finished the meet with a 48.975 on beam. Chow won the event with a 9.875. This marks the fourth beam title of her career. Senior Nikki Youd and Sullivan followed in third with scores of 9.800.
 
UP NEXT
Iowa travels to Ames, Iowa, to compete against Iowa State and Missouri in the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series on March 9. The meet is slated for 6:30 p.m. (CT).
