MINNEAPOLIS– The University of Iowa women’s gymnastics team capped its 2018 season in NCAA Regional action at the Maturi Pavilion on Saturday afternoon. The GymHawks finished sixth with a score of 195.050.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS
· The Hawkeyes posted a season-best 49.425 on floor — the seventh-best floor score in Iowa history.
· Seven GymHawks tallied a total of 11 top-20 finishes.
· Six GymHawks registered season highs.

“We knew this was a tough regional to begin with, so there were no surprises in terms of how competitive the teams were. My hats off to the teams that qualified, as this was truly a difficult regional to get out of.”
“In regards to our team, I am so proud of their efforts. Our seniors did a phenomenal job leading the way and ending off on one of the strongest floor rotations Iowa has ever seen at an NCAA Regional competition. It certainly hurts not to qualify on, but I don’t want this one competition to diminish any of their accomplishments from the season. The message they left after our floor rotation was of a team that refuses to be counted out…and we will be back!”
ALL-AROUND
Sophomore Charlotte Sullivan recorded a 39.250 to finish eighth in the all-around.
VAULT
Iowa began the competition on vault with a 48.925. Senior Lanie Snyder led the Hawkeyes with a career-best 9.825 to place 16th. Juniors Misty-Jade Carlson and Nicole Chow tied for 21st with scores of 9.800.
BARS
The GymHawks moved to uneven bars and registered a 48.275. Senior Melissa Zurawski and Sullivan tied for 12th with scores of 9.850. Snyder and freshman Madison Kampschroeder followed with scores of 9.750 (28th) and 9.725 (31st), respectively.
BEAM
The Hawkeyes recorded a score of 48.425 on beam. Chow led the team with a 9.850 to finish eighth. Sullivan placed 15th with a 9.775, while Carlson finished 19th with 9.725.
FLOOR
Iowa earned a season-best 49.425 during the final rotation on floor — the seventh-best score in Iowa history. Zurawski, Snyder, and sophomore Gina Leal tied for seventh place with scores of 9.900. It marked a career high for Leal. Sullivan also tied her personal-best with a 9.875 to place 14th, while senior Nikki Youd and sophomore Breanna Fitzke tied for 21st with scores of 9.850.
